Absolutely amazing! Jesus, at this point, has endured two illegal trials in the middle of the night and is about to endure a third, and this at the hand of His own people.Let's watch this video together which depicts the trials with the Jewish court and that which Mark starts to record of the trials with the Roman court. Take note of any detail you would like to bring up and be sure to post it below. All four Gospel writers record the trials of Jesus but not all record the same details. Together we can see the bigger picture of what Jesus endured that night and day leading up to His crucifixion. It is amazing what the human body can endure in general, but specifically what Jesus endured physically and emotionally that awful night. You can sense the urgency and outrage in the comments as we read through today's passage. Emmie says, Why doesn't he defend Himself? Speak up! It's what comes naturally to all of us, but not Jesus, especially at this time. Peter writing to the church about suffering and submission tells us why Jesus kept silent, "People insulted him, but he did not insult them back. He suffered, but he did not threaten anyone. No, he let God take care of him. God is the one who judges rightly. ; 1 Peter 2:23 Another translation says, "He entrusted Himself to God." Bella says, They wanted to let a criminal go instead of Jesus. That's wrong. Who would disagree with her. :( When the scriptures record the chief priests and crowds crying out "Crucify Him! Emmie then says, "For what? Helping people? Even JB the self proclaimed "science geek" says, "They just beat him before they kill Him? This is starting to tick me off." Just consider how God the Father felt as He sat and witnessed the whole thing that was planned even before the world was created. Yet He knew that NO ONE would get away with ANYTHING. Either Jesus was paying for it on the Cross of the individual would pay for it for eternity! Also think about who will incur the greater punishment the Jews for condemning Jesus and handing Him over or the Pontius Pilate for giving into the crowd and having Jesus crucified after finding Him innocent three different times!!! As always, let us keep in mind, but by the grace of God we would have been born in that time and could have been anyone there that day. It was our sin that ultimately put Jesus on the Cross. Please take the time to listen to the song below. Its words are a perfect reflection of what today's passage is all about. Have a great day Loved Ones and God bless you real good! How deep the Father's love for us How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory Behold the man upon a cross My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom Songwriters: Stuart Townend How Deep The Father's Love For Us lyrics © Capitol Christian Music Group
