Hebrews 2: 14-18 NLT 14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood--the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. 15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. 16 We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham. 17 Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. 18 Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested. There's a song that I sang early on when I became a Christian that I simply did NOT understand. We would sing Father Abraham and I would think to myself- how is Abraham my father? Some time latter while reading through the book of Romans did I understand why I can consider Abraham my father. So Abraham is the spiritual father of those who have faith but have not been circumcised. They are counted as righteous because of their faith. Romans 4:11b It was because Abraham had faith as I have faith in God's promise. I than become partaker in the covenantt promise of God with Abraham that all people would be blessed through Abraham-specifically through God's Son Jesus. This is where our passage takes us today. It is made abundantly clear that Jesus di not come to help angels. Maybe you don't know but demons are fallen angels. By fallen, I mean that they sinned against God and fell from thier high place- meaning the presence of God and the calling they had to serve Him. God did not send a savior for angels but only humans. We know this because Jesus came as a human being just like us- Fleash and blood. He died for humans in a human body. This is we sin of the blood of Jesus. We could spend a lifetime trying to figure out why humans and not angels but we may never know until we ask God himself when we are in His presence. Thank Him today that we do not have to fear the devil or death knowing that Jesus is greater than both and has victory over both. And this not for His sake but ours. Ask Yourself: What have I to fear if Jesus died and has victory over the devil and death itself? You are not alone. If you do fear, tell Him and one of us (your leaders) and allow us to walk with you in your doubt and pain. We love you very much. Have a great day, Loved Ones, and God bless you very good!
