Revelation 1:5,6 To Him who loves us and has set us free from our sins by His blood, and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—the glory and dominion are His forever and ever. Amen. When I was a teenager I used to get a lot of nosebleeds. There was a time I got one and just sat there watching it drip. I thought it was fascinating, until my mom saw me and I got screamed at. Some people cannot stand the sight of blood and others can't keep their eyes from it. Blood is mentioned throughout the Bible. The first time it is mentioned is when Cain killed Abel and God tells him, “What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground! Although that was the first time it was mentioned it was not the first time it was spilled. After Adam and Eve sinned and covered themselves with fig leaves, God killed an animal and covered them with their skins. It was a bloody reminder that our sin required a blood payment. Leviticus 17:11 tells us, "for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible. ln Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the bloody picture given us with Adam, Eve and the sacrificial system God gave His people that their sin may be covered. But covered is not removed, only through Jesus Christ's blood was sin paid for and removed. John reminds us of this glorious truth and the benefit we get from it. We are loved, set free, a kingdom and priests to His God and Father and this is not because of something we have done so we could boast but to His glory and dominion forever and ever. John ends this with a single word- Amen. Amen at the beginning of a statement says "this is a true" like when Jesus would say "truly, truly I say to you", which literally was "amen, amen" but at the end of a statement is means "so be it". I love that Paul says in 2Corinthians 1:20 "For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for His glory." Have a great day Loved Ones and God bless you real good!
