What a brainfart! Yesterday's passage marked the third time Jesus tells His disciples that He would be handed over to the gentiles, flogged, killed and rise again. Just after the first time Jesus told His disciples, Peter tries to sharply correct Jesus and is himself told, "Get behind Me satan! After the second time He tells them, they are caught talking about who would be the greatest in the Kingdom and here are James and John now, after the third time, asking Jesus (to His face) if they can have the seat of honor. It seems almost comical if we didn't know that it actually happened.
You would think it was past us to ever ask Jesus something like that, but the reality we may do worse. The disciples asked, we assume a higher position. When we say things like Mr B. "He thinks you are definitely worth it." We are not worth the precious blood of God's Son, we are made worthy by the precious blood of God's Son! I hope you understand the difference. When we say we are worth it, we make us the center, like the disciples did in arguing who is the greatest and asking for a an elevated position. When we say, Jesus made us precious, we recognize our place and He becomes the center. I believe JB comment, "This is what gets me. Jesus came to give his life for people. Why? I'm not worth it." better reflect a high position of God and not self. If and when we understand that Jesus death was not if maybe someone wanted to be saved but rather for the salvation of all those the Father gave to Him it will bring a confidence and joy like you've never known. It's what Jesus Himself said, "Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me: that I should lose none of those He has given Me but should raise them up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." John 6:37-40 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day." John 6:44 "He said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless it is granted to him by the Father.” John 6:65 As to Bella's question, "I wonder who that is." - We may not know the answer to this yet but we can trust that God is good and whatever He does it is for His glory and our good. Have a great day, Loved Ones, and God bless you real good!

I feel like if I were one of the apostles I would think I was chosen for something greater than other christians and would ask for a higher place.
